Celestino Vietti became the latest addition to the 2025 Moto2™ World Championship winners list as he secured a perfect lights-to-flag victory at the Misano World Circuit in the Triumph-powered class. The Italian was joined on the podium by a hard-charging Barry Baltus and rookie Daniel Holgado completed the podium in the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera.

Vietti burst to the front of the field from his front row grid slot, using the power from his Triumph 765cc triple engine, seen on the Street Triple 765 RS, to launch ahead of pole-sitter Holgado, series-leader Manuel Gonzalez and Diogo Moreira as the quartet bolted away from the pack.

Resisting early pressure from Holgado behind, Vietti found his rhythm, extracting the maximum from his Triumph-powered machine as he opened a healthy lead around his home circuit.

However, despite the 23-year-old’s gap, all eyes were on a hard-charging Baltus, who capitalised on a fierce battle ahead of him to close up towards the fight for third. As Gonzalez and Moreira went head-to-head, Baltus and Senna Agius took advantage and turned the two’s fight for third into a fierce eight-wheeled encounter for the final podium place, which saw Baltus emerge at the front by lap 13.

Baltus then had his sights set on Holgado ahead, bridging the gap to his rival and making his move into Rio with an inch-perfect pass. With second secured, the Belgian tried everything he could to topple Vietti, but despite a sensational late charge, it proved too much for the #7 rider, who crossed the line behind Vietti with Holgado in third.

Agius enjoyed a strong ride, ascending from seventh on the grid to eventually finish fifth, mounting pressure on the leading group throughout the 22 Lap race. Teammate Gonzalez demonstrated the sheer power of his Triumph 765cc triple engine, setting a new lap record (1'34.759).

Vietti’s victory means he’s the 10th different winner in 2025, and the sixth different winner in the last six races.

The Moto2 World Championship will start its overseas leg at the Japanese Grand Prix, as the Triumph-powered class heads to the Mobility Resort Motegi, Japan on 26-28 September for Round 17.
