Lewis Smart splashed his way to a superb fifth-place finish today, emerging from a tricky Pirelli National Sportbike race with a season-best finish.

With Smart and teammate Katie Hand flying the flag for the Macadam Triumph Racing Sportbike crew, the pair ventured out for free practice, concluding the day’s running with Smart 18th and Hand 35th.

Qualifying kicked off a busy Saturday for the 660 riders as the pair took to the 2.43-mile circuit in anger. Smart pushed throughout, ultimately concluding the session in 23rd, Hand would start 35th.

With lights out, Smart made a strong start and joined the battle for the points from the off. Keeping his head down, the number 32 rider engaged in a final lap battle, ultimately crossing the line in 15th, securing a point for his 2025 campaign. Hand pushed throughout and crossed the line in 27th.

With hopes that Sunday’s race would remain dry, rain on the out lap would cast an anxious doubt over the grid, with heavens opening moments before the start.

With the wet tyres fitted, Smart made an incredible launch from 11th, flying into the top ten on the opening lap. As riders ahead crashed out, Smart found himself in seventh before more misfortune for riders around him elevated him to fifth where he took the flag.

Hand’s finale ended with a strong showing as she battled her way to finish 22nd when the chequered flag fell.

Despite sitting out the final two rounds from injury, PHR Performance’s Harrison Dessoy wrapped up the season sixth in the standings having taken two wins and three further podiums. The Daytona 660 secured two wins and five podiums in its second season in competition.

Lewis Smart - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing

Race 1: 15th | Race 2: 5th

“Today’s race was really good, even if I should have been more aggressive at the start. It was easy to make a mistake in the conditions today, so I took my time building into it as others crashed around me. It was a good way to end the year, and back up the strong ride on Saturday where I came from 23rd to 15th. A huge thank you to the entire team and sponsors for all of their support this year.”

Katie Hand - Macadam Triumph Factory Racing
