Glemseck Success

King of Speed Carl Fogarty returned to the number one spot on Saturday after winning the ‘Essenza Sprint’ on a supercharged Thruxton R during the 1/8 mile Essenza sprint races held at Glemseck 101 in Germany.

With 16 competitors taking part in the race from manufacturers including Harley Davidson, Yamaha, Suzuki and Moto Guzzi, Carl won three knockout rounds on ‘The White Bike’, a custom built Thruxton R, to get to the final race, finishing in pole position ahead of a Kawasaki H2R ridden by Francesca Gasperi.

Carl said; “It’s the first time I’ve entered a race like this and it’s been a lot of fun. The team at Triumph did a brilliant job, the bike performed really well and I couldn’t be happier with the win. It’s always good to be on the top step of the podium!”

The White Bike was one of two bikes entered into the race by Triumph. The second bike, named The Bulldog was ridden by Christoph Lentsch of 1000PS who was pipped to the post during his heat by a customised Moto Guzzi.

Both Thruxton Rs were fitted with Rotrex Superchargers with custom fuel and injection maps and custom free-flowing exhaust systems. The White Bike was fitted with a hand-made tailored Daytona 675 race fairing and seat with a Moto GP-inspired swing arm.

The Bulldog was given a brooding streetfighter look with an all-black livery with red detailing, a custom Speed Triple R intake fairing and final touches including the factory-accessory seat and matching factory-accessory black wheels.

Now in its 11th year Essenza celebrates the spirit of motorcycling bringing manufacturers, custom builders and riders from across Europe for the three-day spectacular.
